Ashley Young has revealed he would like to continue playing for Manchester United past the summer of 2019, when his current contract is set to expire, have reported.
Young arrived to Old Trafford from Aston Villa in the summer of 2011 as a winger, but in the last few season he s mostly been deployed as a left-back. He has so far worn the United shirt 216 times in all competitions and scored 17 goals. Prior to his four and a half year stint at Villa Park, he spent three and a half years with Watford. He helped England reach the World Cup semifinals this year, and has been capped 39 times.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a highly successful spell with United, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, as well as the Europa League. He still feels fit and able to play at this level, and he wants to stay there for as long that remains the case. The club have already rewarded him for his contributions last season when they triggered a 12-month extension on his contract.
